Prelims is MCQ Based Examination. It has 2 Paper. Paper 1 will be General studies and Paper 2 will be CSAT.
There will be Multiple Choice Questions in Prelims. 1 Question and 4 Option will be there so student should choose one Correct answer. if answer is wrong there will be 0.66 negative marks per Question.
It will cover all subjects of General studies like Polity, History, Geography, Economy, Environment etc. the total Marks of the Paper is 200. 10What is the CSAT Paper in Prelims? The CSAT will consist logical reasoning, aptitude and reading comprehension. It is a qualifying paper student should get minimum 66 marks in this paper. the total Marks of the Paper is 200.
The cut off will be vary between general and OBC will 5 marks. Between OBC and SC it may be 8 marks. And between SC to ST it may be 5 marks.
Last year prelims cut off was 98 for general, 95 for OBC, 88 for SC and 82 for ST.
The Mains examinations will be comprised more than 13 subjects of general studies and it is a written examination.
The UPSC Mains Examinations comprised more than 13 subjects. It has 4 general study papers and 1 essay paper and separately one optional subject paper will be there. (250 marks for each Paper)
The UPSC aspirant should choose one subject in available list. Students should thoroughly study the optional subjects. It consist 500 marks. There will 2 paper 250 marks for each.
The UPSC aspirants should choose his mother tongue and 1 general English paper. These 2 papers are qualifying papers in Mains examination.
Once the qualify with mains exam aspirant will go for interview, UPSC Will verify the Student documents and if the documents are Proper than student will appears for Interview.
DAF is a direct application form. Here students should write all his details and the UPSC aspirant interview will be based on his DAF.
The UPSC Board will ask general questions to understand capability of the student and mainly questions comes from Local issues and Current Affairs.
The interview will be conducted at UPSC main building,Shahjahan Road, New Delhi.
The UPSC will prepare final list through mains examinations marks and interview marks. Based on these both marks final list will be prepared.
The service will be allotted based on the student DAF and UPSC Final Rank.

3 months foundation course will be conducted in Lal Bahuddur Shastri, National Academy of Administration, Musoori, Uttarkand. After the foundation course student will join their respective academies.
